How it works

Three steps. A few seconds.

All the cryptography happens behind the scenes. You just pick the file.

  1. 01

    Local fingerprint

Your browser computes the file's SHA-256 hash. Only that 64-character code moves on; the content stays with you.

  2. 02

    Anchored on-chain

The hash is written to a smart contract on the Base network. The block records the date and time publicly and permanently.

  3. 03

    Verifiable receipt

You get a PDF receipt with a QR code. Anyone can check the file's authenticity, at any time.

Why Docmint

Simple on the outside. Rigorous inside.

Full privacy

Your file is never sent to our servers. Contracts, designs and trade secrets stay with you.

Tamper-proof

Changing a single bit changes the hash completely. The proof can't be edited or deleted — not even by us.

Ready in seconds

No queues, paperwork or travel. Record and receipt in under a minute, any time.

Independent of us

The proof lives on a public blockchain. Even if Docmint ceased to exist, it would remain verifiable.

Who it's for

Built for creators and anyone who needs to prove it.

Comparison

A modern way to prove precedence.

For evidence of existence and integrity, technology does in seconds what used to take days.

FAQ

Everything you need to know

Do you have access to my files?

No. The hash is computed in your browser and the file is never uploaded. We only record the fingerprint plus the title and description you choose — those two are public.

Is it legally valid?

It's technical evidence that that exact file existed on a given date, and courts in many jurisdictions accept digital evidence. It has no notarial authority and doesn't replace a notary or IP registration; for specific cases, ask a lawyer.

Do I need crypto or a wallet?

No. Sign in with Google or email and we create a secure wallet automatically. Network fees are on us and you pay by card.

What if I change the file later?

Any change produces a different hash, so the modified file won't match the record. Keep the original intact. Renaming the file doesn't matter.

Can I record several files at once?

Yes. In a batch, files form a Merkle tree written in a single transaction, and each file remains individually verifiable. Each file uses one credit.

What if Docmint goes away?

Your proof stays valid. It lives on a public blockchain and anyone can check it with the original file and the receipt. See How it works for the step by step.
